[This was not clicking for some reason. He has been staring at these reports for the past hour and half, nothing having been accomplished besides from papers being shuffled around in a semblance of productivity and knives thrown into the pillar behind him out of sheer frustration. His fingers tapping along the worn metal to keep himself from doing further property damage at this rate.

The bottom line was that stress was gnawing at him.

Not from the job though. If anything, reports should came as second nature after the past few months and coordinating had been relatively easy once the rough first week passed by. Being a vanguard should cause less stress than doing actually fieldwork yet here he was at a breaking point almost.

There was nothing. Absolutely nothing. Those stupid letters and photos and other bullshit weren't coming in anymore.

Something had to have happened and he's stuck here in this goddamn tower like a fresh rezzed moron.

His hands were effectively tied as well. No one could be sent out without the other two's approval and even then it'd be brought forward to discussion by the head vanguard. Which means that nothing could happen for days and he'll be sitting on his ass like he already was. All it did was make him all the more frustrated about having given up his freedom to leave as he so pleased because at least then someone would be out there trying to figure out what happened.

The hunter buries his face in his hands with an exhausted sigh leaving him. He probably looked like hell at this rate. Throwing himself into long hours had made his sleep schedule an abysmal handful of hours in the past few days. Half the time he didn't know how he wasn't passing out during meetings. Be easy to. Pull the hood further down, lean down on the table and maybe get an hour or two of on and off rest. Might be the best time to try it out to be quite honest since the hall was dead before attempting it when there'd be actual repercussions to getting caught.

He grunts after stretching out on the table some, pillowing his head with his arms for something close to comfortable. Shade is called out of transmat to keep a watch on things while an attempt at a nap was made. The ghost whirling softly in concern but does as told.

Things suck. Might as well try to ignore it for the time being.]

[His hand falls to James' hip, and he presents a mock terrified expression.]

Traveler no, I don't think I even could. Must be getting old, think you wore me out.

[But the expression melts into a sincere, if somewhat teasing, grin.]

True. I think you prefer something else being up there anyway.

[He rolls his eyes at him, shaking his head.]

Wow you're getting your ass kicked by someone who has a century over you. Such a pushover.

W-I mean like-

[For as long as they've been together, the comment still brings a touch of heat to his cheeks, but he's able to recover quickly. Instead of sputtering and tripping over his words, he instead reaches up to muss up James' hair in retaliation, a small, impish grin tugging at the corner of his mouth.]

You mean that I'm right. Well thank you for agreeing with me. I appreciate having such a truthful host leader as my company.

[His hair was a mess anyway so the further mussing doesn't earn much beyond a soft laugh from him. Besides it was still priceless to get those moments of catching Liam off guard and stealing away his ability to talk. Even after all these years.]

Hey, I'm not the one that's been all something up something today. Think that honor belongs to a certain vanguard, yeah?

[He's laughing through his words though, quiet and loving. Banter has never grown old, no matter how long it's been.]

[He tilts his head to the side, raising a brow at him.]

Are you complaining about that? I'm sure something else could be arranged if that didn't suit your tastes then.

Nah, tastes are just fine. Better than fine. Not quite as fine as the hunter they're directed with, but still pretty fine.

[And no, he will not apologize for that level of terrible.]

Hm well this hunter is still kicking your tired ass apparently.

[Scrounging up the supplies, he stows them in a nearby desk before sliding off of the titan and the couch. His arms and back being stretched out before recovering his clothes.]

Psh, lettin' you win. For now.

[Maybe. Sort of. Not really. He's not going to admit it though. Instead he concerns himself with watching James move, eyes trailing up the curve of his spine as he stretches. Perhaps it's a bit of laziness that doesn't have him moving from the couch quite yet, even if it would be for the best.]

Uh hunh. Sure you are. Whatever will help you sleep at night.

[Once clothes are acquired, he starts pulling them back on and getting somewhat back to being put together. His hand moving to run through his hair with a smirk thrown back at the titan.]

Can't compare to a vanguard.

[rocketsout]

Oh totally can.

[He should really get up, but instead he just stretches and works a kink out of his neck before shooting a grin back over to his hunter.]

I can keep up just fine.

[sword_breaker]

Oh really then?

[He turns around and leans down with a toothy grin. His hands being placed on the back of the couch on both sides of him. A half assed pin really.]

Doesn't look like it.

[rocketsout]

Psssshhh. I'm being nice and not bowling you over right now.

[He grins toothily up at James, leaving his hands at his sides in a sign of mock surrender.]

As if you could do that right now.

[A kiss being placed onto his forehead with a brief laugh.]

[rocketsout]

I think I totally could.

[As if to prove his point, he reaches up to run his hand up the hunter's arm.]

[sword_breaker]

The better question is whether or not you should.

[He steals a soft kiss. Humming softly, the hunter pulls back but stays relatively close.]

[rocketsout]

Always gotta push the boundaries, otherwise nothing ventured nothing gained.

[But the closeness is more than enough, and the kiss is followed by a pleased noise and a slight bump of his forehead against the hunter's.]

[sword_breaker]

No I don't think that the boundaries need to be tested. Not right now. You did fantastic work already, dork.

[Ducking down, he nuzzles him softly then pulling away to straighten up. Humming contently the hunter heads off towards the hall after hiding away the rest of the supplies.]

I'm going to steal a shower. Don't throw around the reports any more than you did before.

Hey, I might, you never know. No one needs reports.

[He playfully swats at James before the hunter vanishes, then sits up with a grunt of effort. Running a hand through his hair, he makes a valiant attempt at stretching before he ultimately gives up.]

Leave it running, I'll hop in when you're done.

[sword_breaker]

I do. So leave them be.

[It's shouted back before he disappears into the bathroom not only get clean but also warm. Rubbing the back of his neck, he stretches his back out to work any tension out. Not very much a productive day, he'll admit that.]

Fine.

[But he's at least one to keep his word, especially with James involved. Still, he can't help a little wickedness, and he slinks down towards the bathroom as quiet as can be. When he finally gets himself inside, he pops his head in to the spray.]

Boo!

[sword_breaker]

[He's in the middle of washing his hair when suddenly there's a loud noise and a face suddenly up close and personal. There's definite flailing and not so graceful at that so he palms away the titan's face before stumbling to the shower floor.]

Fuck!

[Wait no, wait definitely no that wasn't supposed to happen. Frankly he's not certain what should have happened, but it definitely wasn't James potentially getting hurt.

He can deal with getting shoved, he's had worse, but there's a noise of distress and surprise as the hunter goes down. With little care for the water, he reaches in to try to help pull the man back up, or at least stop him from getting injured.]

Shit, shit, oh shit, I'm so sorry!

You asshole! Fucking hell.

[He rubs the back of his head, glaring up at him angrily. What the hell was he thinking? So much for having a nice day now that his mood did a complete one eighty because of this.

The hunter waves away the help and stumbles under the spray to get the last of suds out. Everything ached now and a dull throb pulsed in his skull. He slips out after a few moments, skirting around Liam to snatch a towel and head out.]

James-!

[Oh he fucked up, he fucked up so much. There's a flurry of movement as the hunter pushes past and the temptation to reach out and grab ahold of him to make sure that he's alright. Years of living with the man have taught him that it may not be wise, however, and instead he tears off down the hall after James leaving the shower running.]

Shit, I'm so sorry, I'm so so sorry.
