sword_breaker | Future Stuff ::1:: Been Up All Night

[This was not clicking for some reason. He has been staring at these reports for the past hour and half, nothing having been accomplished besides from papers being shuffled around in a semblance of productivity and knives thrown into the pillar behind him out of sheer frustration. His fingers tapping along the worn metal to keep himself from doing further property damage at this rate.

The bottom line was that stress was gnawing at him.

Not from the job though. If anything, reports should came as second nature after the past few months and coordinating had been relatively easy once the rough first week passed by. Being a vanguard should cause less stress than doing actually fieldwork yet here he was at a breaking point almost.

There was nothing. Absolutely nothing. Those stupid letters and photos and other bullshit weren't coming in anymore.

Something had to have happened and he's stuck here in this goddamn tower like a fresh rezzed moron.

His hands were effectively tied as well. No one could be sent out without the other two's approval and even then it'd be brought forward to discussion by the head vanguard. Which means that nothing could happen for days and he'll be sitting on his ass like he already was. All it did was make him all the more frustrated about having given up his freedom to leave as he so pleased because at least then someone would be out there trying to figure out what happened.

The hunter buries his face in his hands with an exhausted sigh leaving him. He probably looked like hell at this rate. Throwing himself into long hours had made his sleep schedule an abysmal handful of hours in the past few days. Half the time he didn't know how he wasn't passing out during meetings. Be easy to. Pull the hood further down, lean down on the table and maybe get an hour or two of on and off rest. Might be the best time to try it out to be quite honest since the hall was dead before attempting it when there'd be actual repercussions to getting caught.

He grunts after stretching out on the table some, pillowing his head with his arms for something close to comfortable. Shade is called out of transmat to keep a watch on things while an attempt at a nap was made. The ghost whirling softly in concern but does as told.

Things suck. Might as well try to ignore it for the time being.]

[It's shouted back before he disappears into the bathroom not only get clean but also warm. Rubbing the back of his neck, he stretches his back out to work any tension out. Not very much a productive day, he'll admit that.]

[But he's at least one to keep his word, especially with James involved. Still, he can't help a little wickedness, and he slinks down towards the bathroom as quiet as can be. When he finally gets himself inside, he pops his head in to the spray.]

Boo!

[He's in the middle of washing his hair when suddenly there's a loud noise and a face suddenly up close and personal. There's definite flailing and not so graceful at that so he palms away the titan's face before stumbling to the shower floor.]

Fuck!

[Wait no, wait definitely no that wasn't supposed to happen. Frankly he's not certain what should have happened, but it definitely wasn't James potentially getting hurt.

He can deal with getting shoved, he's had worse, but there's a noise of distress and surprise as the hunter goes down. With little care for the water, he reaches in to try to help pull the man back up, or at least stop him from getting injured.]

Shit, shit, oh shit, I'm so sorry!

[He rubs the back of his head, glaring up at him angrily. What the hell was he thinking? So much for having a nice day now that his mood did a complete one eighty because of this.

The hunter waves away the help and stumbles under the spray to get the last of suds out. Everything ached now and a dull throb pulsed in his skull. He slips out after a few moments, skirting around Liam to snatch a towel and head out.]

James-!

[Oh he fucked up, he fucked up so much. There's a flurry of movement as the hunter pushes past and the temptation to reach out and grab ahold of him to make sure that he's alright. Years of living with the man have taught him that it may not be wise, however, and instead he tears off down the hall after James leaving the shower running.]

Shit, I'm so sorry, I'm so so sorry.

Ok I get it! Fucking hell I don't need to hear twenty times. Once is enough.

[Shade is called from transmat to take care of the throbbing headache which is slowly tended to. The ghost's fins spinning in slight irritation that such a thing happened. Him and the hunter head upstairs for a better assessment up there.]

[Shit, that's really bad. But he doesn't follow, trusting in Shade to put the hunter back together properly. As much as he doesn't want to, it's best to give James space for the time, even if it hurts to see him so worked up. Shit, that was a terrible decision.]

[The ghost is more than willing to chide over the hunter that things didn't need to be taken so harshly and that taking a moment to chill out was more than advised at the moment. Which is easier said than done with a wound up hunter. Still the dull ache is taken care of if not the current mood.

He throws on clean clothes and makes an attempt at putting his frustrations towards something productive. That ended up being straightening out everything upstairs as best as he possibly could before a taking a seat at the foot of the bed. Arc flickering underneath his skin as he sorted out his thoughts.]

[Leaving the hunter alone is much harder than it would originally think to be. He wants so badly to follow after, to figure out how to make things right, but after the way the man had already snapped he logically knew it would be a poor decision.

Logic was never fun.

While he lets James have his space, there's a pot of apology coffee set up, the back room is at least straightened from their escapades, and he tries to be as unobtrusive as possible. It sucks. A lot.]

[Everything settles out after a couple of moments to himself and letting the headache ease away thanks to Shade's help. The upstairs was organized to hell and back so there wasn't much use in keeping himself quarantined away with nothing to do. Especially since the ghost flitted away to chill.

So he picks himself up and heads back downstairs. The sound of something brewing catches his attention for a brief second before the hunter refocuses and seeks out the titan. His forehead is pressed into the other's shoulder when he finds him along with a mumbled apology.]

[It's an honest surprise when there's suddenly motion next to him, and he stops in the middle of storing away some of the extraneous reports. James, of course it's James, but he's unprepared for the quiet apology and it tugs at his heart in a way that has him sagging and reaching around to wind a hand in the hunter's hair.]

No. 'm sorry...

[The hunter is more than content with the slight turn of acknowledgement but he wasn't exactly ready for the way that the titan is defeated almost by the touch. He hums softly at the touch, tilting his head upwards into the hand. It was a dick move of him to have acted out on his anger so he sighs.]

I shouldn't have made it such a big deal.

No, 'm sorry. Should have thought more about what I was doing. 'could have actually really hurt you.

[And he means it so very much, and it's evident in the way he leans into the hunter.]

[An arm warps around his waist to tug him in closer. The hunter more than content to nuzzle into the crux of his shoulder with a low reassuring hum.]

It's fine. We both know that I'm tough enough to take a fall or two.

Tough, yeah. But you shouldn't have to take a fall 'cause I was being an idiot.

[Really, while he's glad that James is okay he's still mentally kicking himself over things in the first place.]

Worse mistakes have happened before. Relax though. I'm serious on it being fine.

[That last thing he wanted was for the titan to be caught up on what had happened. He appreciated the apology now rather than blowing up but neither of them deserved to be crushed over a simple screw up.

He steals a soft kiss to distract him.]

Come on. We're supposed to be enjoying time off not moping.

[The distraction is more than sufficient, but he still gently presses his forehead against the hunter's when he pulls away. There's a soft sigh, and he winds his fingers through James' hair to hold him close.]

Promise. But any time with you is time I'm enjoying, yeah?

[Closing his eyes, he gives a pleased noise at the gentle touches and sticks close to the titan. His arms coming around to wrap low on Liam's waist to make sure he remained close as much as he did.]

It sure looks like it.

I'd be a fallen-brained idiot not to.

[But he can't help but relent and drink in James' warmth and closeness.]

Hm I think a Fallen would have better sense that even. Maybe a thrall brained idiot. That seems more befitting.

What, I'm Hive now? I don't even get to be a cool knight or something?

Hm maybe a knight. You certainly have the whole armor thing going for you. Though you're missing the sword. So maybe you're actually an acolyte at the most.
