[This was not clicking for some reason. He has been staring at these reports for the past hour and half, nothing having been accomplished besides from papers being shuffled around in a semblance of productivity and knives thrown into the pillar behind him out of sheer frustration. His fingers tapping along the worn metal to keep himself from doing further property damage at this rate.

The bottom line was that stress was gnawing at him.

Not from the job though. If anything, reports should came as second nature after the past few months and coordinating had been relatively easy once the rough first week passed by. Being a vanguard should cause less stress than doing actually fieldwork yet here he was at a breaking point almost.

There was nothing. Absolutely nothing. Those stupid letters and photos and other bullshit weren't coming in anymore.

Something had to have happened and he's stuck here in this goddamn tower like a fresh rezzed moron.

His hands were effectively tied as well. No one could be sent out without the other two's approval and even then it'd be brought forward to discussion by the head vanguard. Which means that nothing could happen for days and he'll be sitting on his ass like he already was. All it did was make him all the more frustrated about having given up his freedom to leave as he so pleased because at least then someone would be out there trying to figure out what happened.

The hunter buries his face in his hands with an exhausted sigh leaving him. He probably looked like hell at this rate. Throwing himself into long hours had made his sleep schedule an abysmal handful of hours in the past few days. Half the time he didn't know how he wasn't passing out during meetings. Be easy to. Pull the hood further down, lean down on the table and maybe get an hour or two of on and off rest. Might be the best time to try it out to be quite honest since the hall was dead before attempting it when there'd be actual repercussions to getting caught.

He grunts after stretching out on the table some, pillowing his head with his arms for something close to comfortable. Shade is called out of transmat to keep a watch on things while an attempt at a nap was made. The ghost whirling softly in concern but does as told.

Things suck. Might as well try to ignore it for the time being.]

[He hates that he had to admit that out loud and he heads back towards his quarters. There's a slam of a door after he hides back into it.]

[Mykelle told him everything, and while Andrei worries about her as much as he does James, it's easy to sit with her and stroke her hair while he makes some calls. He's no Crucible attendant, and he's certainly no Vanguard, but he can call in a few favors.

After an hour of chatting and negotiating and waiting for answers, he has to take the hardest step of all.

He comes to James's--and Liam's--apartment and he knocks.]

[His head is buried in his hands while he sits at the counter, a drink next to him though barely touched if anything. That goddamn titan...why the hell did she pull that on him? No was supposed to mean NO yet she did it anyway like a complete asshole.

Now someone else knew what was wrong with him and that didn't sit right. He was supposed to be able to handle it on his own because it was his problem. Not hers nor her husband's.

He should've told her to screw off and never allowed her in.

Then there's the knock. Grunting in annoyance, he gets up and heads over to investigate, tugging the door open. When he sees who it is, it's immediately closed once more.]

[He can't say he's entirely surprised by that. Some things never change.

Unfortunately, some things do, and he no longer has an apartment to crash in while he reads.]

I have an entire week's worth of patrol reports from Venus and I was hoping for a quiet place to read. Or another set of eyes.

I'm certain that you could go bother someone else about those. Maybe Annalise. However I want nothing to do with you right now because I'm more than certain that Kell sent you along.

I'm not an idiot.

No, you aren't, but I thought you'd like to be the first to know if we find anything.

["If" is an ugly word, but he's not going to lie to James.

Fine. So James won't let him in. Andrei puts his helmet back on and walks several steps away from the door. The floor won't be a very comfortable place to study, he knows, but he's had worse.]

Wisp, I'll take those files, now.

[He presses his forehead against the door with a ragged sigh. Why couldn't they just leave him alone? Just why not?

But then the door is open and glancing down the hall at the warlock, frowning.]

Just get the hell in here.

[archivistonfire]

[Andrei looks up from the array of info pads that he and Wisp arranged in an arc around him.]

Thanks.

[He picks up everything and heads obediently into the apartment.]

Yea...whatever.

[Shutting the door behind them, he heads back to his seat at the counter and pushing his bottle to be resting back in front of him. He wasn't sure if he was ever going to drink from it.]

[Ah yes. The couch. Andrei is still familiar with this seat, even after all his years away. Sitting so there's room for James to join him later if he'd like, Andrei spreads out his gear on the coffee table in front of him and settles in to read his reports.]

Why do you have all those reports? This is a vanguard issue and last I checked you aren't one. So...why?

Yeah, I'm not. But I have a friend who is. I pulled some strings and go the last few weeks' worth of patrol logs. If he or his Host reported in, I can find it, and possibly even extrapolate Liam's position based on the information I get.

[sword_breaker]

Good luck with that. As if any of us can do anything really. I can't even leave the tower unless with proper reasoning.

[He takes a swig from his beer and rolls his shoulders. He hates how tied his hands were with this.]

Yeah... it's not much. And even if it works, it's going to be awhile.

But it's not like I could just do nothing if he's gone, you know?

If it helps, I have a few people out looking for him, too. This should just make the search easier.

No shit it's going to be a while. Have to get a team together and make sure there's prep work done. I know the whole drill by now.

Who the hell do you have looking for him and how? No formal request has been passed through.

Friends. I promise. Ones who can exploit loopholes, like Mykelle's Sunbreaker friends and warlocks who are out doing research. You know, like Val.

You...you sent out Val? Seriously?

Well, I didn't mean her specifically, exactly? But yeah, I did. Nobody knows Venus as well as she does. If anybody can find him, it's Val.

If he's not dead already, he will be with her. She's not exactly fond of someone making this sort of mistake especially to a second. But....you're not wrong. Damn warlock knows more about the jungles of Venus than the goings of a Tower.

[At least he'll be rezz-ably dead instead of permanently gone? Andrei knows better than to say that, of course.]

Maybe she won't be the one to find him? I have four different parties checking the Ishtar region.

She's the most likely, though.

How did you get the authority to put out four teams to search? I understand Val but three other teams?

The trick is knowing when I don't need authority. I just called up some friends on research trips in the area and asked them to keep an eye out. They cover some massive areas; it's not like they'll be going out of their way to do it.

Last I checked, the sunbreakers aren't exactly researchers. Majority of them are mercenaries. Sure they still fight the darkness but it's not from the goodness of their hearts. Rather for a paycheck. So you're pulling more strings than you think.
