[There's a slight wind to give signs that colder weather was going to hit the city at some point but otherwise the chill didn't faze many much with the sun pouring down rays without any resistance from white wisps streaking across blue. Another busy work day for most people as they packed the sidewalks in order to accomplish whatever the day asked of them to do, some of them heading off towards lunch break even as the afternoon brought along ease in traffic after the rushing around or rather dead still in the morning commutes that always came like clockwork. The towering skyscrapers piercing above while scattered about were busy shops and apartment complexes ranging to the higher end of the spectrum, fortunate for several residents of them being close to where they worked usually.

However it didn't matter much to the man lying face first towards the blue in an alley, red bursts staining his shirt in an act of fatal defiance against the fabric. He wasn't caring about anything anymore. Pools of crimson have congealing into a sticky mess at his side to keep company with the broken body though it was a waste honestly. A barrier of yellow and black tape announcing the crime scene as if the body and the blood weren't enough already to do so. Officers scurrying about to comb through every little thing in order to scrounge up evidence ranging from fingerprints to shell casings while a medical examiner started jotting down notes as though it were a race.

To be fair, it was a race that was ticking away for all of them but yet he didn't exactly have to put so much effort into finding out the who, why and whatnot of this particular case. Never really showed interest in the exact details of a person's death as it wasn't under his job description nor would he if paid enough, more so content enough with the tasks that were scheduled for him to do. He sends a confirmation of his arrival with a quick text before stowing away the smart phone into his back pocket and assessing the fussing police. No doubt Matthieu was going to blow his phone up with messages after getting the answer but that could be ignored.

Passing underneath the tape, the man eased through the scene with no problems coming from the uniformed others. Though that was the point of having such a decent illusion in order to essentially make him invisible, allowing a much easier time accomplishing his tasks without the stupid questions that would be raised at his presence much less what he would do here. He had the slight frown that could've been considered appropriate for the situation but the claw marks and irrevocably damaged right eye would certainly cause a more sinister thought process to occur. Maybe even be considered as a hit man that had down the crime but to be fair he didn't hunt unless told otherwise and certainly not boring humans such as this idiot. Besides a man decked in a suit stood out in this mess with much help to his disregard of everything save for the dead man who certainly was still brimming with the confused energy of a trapped soul. Definitely need to rectify that.

James crouched down right next to the examiner and fished out a knife before making an incision right at the heart before reaching down to draw out the reluctant soul. The reaper was only doing his job and besides no one was going to see him do his work, not the police nor the surrounding crowd of onlookers.

He was looking forward to the break after this one, sneak away towards his usual haunt; a coffee shop that boasted fantastic blends that were more so a necessity at this rate rather than a mere commodity and plus the perfect spot he claimed by the window in order to watch the world keep moving. The energy from the illusion would be easily restored during that. Then it would be another one in midtown before being able to return back home for the day and unwind. That or check with the bar to make sure a friend or two didn't snoop around more than they should. The former was going to be the most probable though so he shows the other idea to the back of his mind before focusing.]

[He waves off that notion before popping open a soda and contemplating whether or not he should put the effort in getting a glass. The reaper simply sticking with the bottle for now and returning to his side with a smile.]

Call it a break from paying for all of them. It was only an excuse to spend more time with you anyway.

[That was the more important part. Why he went after his head. He was far more important than some outing.]

[Oh, that's certainly something to hear and it brings another shy grin to his lips as he attempts to search for words. It's a bit more difficult around the reaper sometimes, and this flustered feeling is something that he's decided he actually quite likes.]

Well, I uh, I mean like...I'm always up for spending time no matter what we do. I like being around you.

It's something I wouldn't be against doing more of. You know the whole spending time thing. That was obvious obviously.

[Nice one self. Still he moves enough to grab the dullahan's hand with his free one and gently tugs him over to the stairs. This should go better now that someone has a head.]

Come on. I'll show you around.

Good, 'cause I uh, I'd like to stay around.

[It's a nice feeling, to be wanted, and he follows willingly, giving the hunter's hand a gentle squeeze.]

It'd be a pleasure to have you stay then.

[He nudges open the first door which turns out to be the study, bookshelves full of different stories that spanned the last century and tomes that showed his reaper siding as well. Some war propaganda hung the walls back from the forties as well as other pieces he had collected.]

Not exactly fun but this is the study. If I'm not out and about, this is where I do other work and business.

I-thanks. Like I mean it.

[It's so strange to be welcomed in, and he finds that he likes it. It's nice that James trusts him. It really is.

And the fact that he's being allowed into someone's personal space like this...it's actually a little overwhelming at first, but he reaches out to gently take the reaper's hand as he nods, taking in everything.]

[Gently tugging the dullahan along, he winds up heading over to the next room which was the master bedroom. The room was bathed in warm light coming from the expansive window, curtains pulled to the side for now. The furniture much like the study being a mix between metal and wood though the bed was in dark grays and the comforter still sort of mess.

At least otherwise it was rather tidy and kept together.]

Main bedroom. The bathroom [A point towards it.] is over there and well the closets and all. There's another one downstairs too of course.

[Oh wow, this is definitely nicer than the places he's used to staying. Fitting, since it was someone's home and not just a cheap motel on the side of the road, but it's a bit overwhelming nonetheless and he takes a moment to let his eyes wander. It's a lot to take in.]

's nice. You've got good taste.

[A quick glance over.] Yea...yea I do.

I ugh anyway you're more than welcome to the tvs and anything else in the apartment.

[Oh. That brings a shy grin to his lips, and for a moment he's about to protest. Slipping his hand into Jame's feels like a better use of his time though, and it's soft and sweet and it's still all so very new. He likes the new.]

I uh. Thank you. Think right now just...

[Why is he so tongue tied now?]

Just uh, stay here with me? 's kind of been a day.

I ugh...

[Well he did sort of offer anything in the apartment and he sort of was included in that somehow. He wasn't going to deny that but maybe should've expected the other not wanting to do anything particular above relaxing.]

I can do that. I'd love to.

Um probably should get your bike at some point though...right? And what about clothes? I probably have some you can borrow.

Oh uh. The bike is gonna be fine it...uh it kinda goes with me? Used to be a horse, but people started staring at that funny so I changed it.

[Clothes though, are an entirely different problem. He doesn't own much to begin with, so there's little he can do to switch things out. Less more, after everything that's happened.]

I uh...I might...have to take you up on the other thing though. Sorry.

Oh. Right. Sounds good I guess. ...Aside from a riderless bike going through midtown.

[There'll be some heat from the higher ups especially if that thing shows up at his address. It was easy enough to sneak in the dullahan himself but that....that was going to make things harder to explain if asked.

However deal with that when it comes. He slips away to poke around at his drawers.]

It's fine. Have a washer and all that. So you're welcome to whatever you think is comfortable or whatever.

Er...didn't think of that.

[It's strange, having to worry over what other myths and mortals alike are going to think. He's spent far too much time out on the road, this is all a very new concept.]

[In all actuality, the reaper was pretty worried about that and what it could possibly spell for the both of them. Still he can't do anything about it. Let the cards fall as they want. For now he focuses on hanging up his jacket and unbuttoning his shirt.]

Well, like...hopefully the one way and not the other.

[Is that a little too forward? It feels a little too forward. He mentally cringes at himself as he runs a hand through his hair.]

...let's go get it right now. You 'nd me. That way there's no like...worry about it.

I don't think you'd get anything asides from a fine. Kind of not super strict. Besides I could work the whole over or my partner can.

[He tugs out a pair of jeans and a tshirt before disappearing off to the bathroom though his dress shirt and undershirt already off. Still some decency.

I ugh sure. But whatever happened to just staying here?

Yeah, but then you'd get flack.

[That's how this works, right? Or rather, that's how reaper things work? He's never really investigated too far into it. He just doesn't want to get James in trouble.

He does have the decency to allow the man some modesty, and turns away from the bathroom with furrowed brows.]

...like I'd like to spend time here, yeah? But if it means not getting you in trouble, like...go get the thing, bring it back, and then spend time here?

Not the first time nor will it be the last. As long as it's worth it.

[It sort of is how reapers tend to work things. Hell, he could get flack for having stepped in so much over the head thing. Most would've recommended ending a confused headless dullahan.

Finishing up, he takes advantage of him looking away to walk up and steal a kiss.]

Whatever you want to do, I'm in. Ok?

Well, like...let's not make it another time, yeah?

[He's grinning into the kiss though, and the moment James pulls away there's a glint of mischief in his eyes. He's exhausted from the day, yes, still reeling from the shock and disruption from the bar, but-]

So anyone ever teach you to ride?

If you say so. I suppose it's fair if I keep you out of trouble then you do the same for me, right?

[There was some urgency in his steps to head out and down to the main level once more. However he pauses at the door to mull over the question. A small smirk appearing.]

Yes but not a motorcycle.

Well yeah, 'course.

[He has to stop for a moment and give a double take to the answer though, blinking in surprise at how forward the reaper was. He gapes for a moment, then slowly but surely grins toothily.]

Might have to teach you then.

I'm sure there are others that would appreciate that.

[And come on dullahan, surely you expected that? He was trying to relax around him which included joking and whatnot. Plus the look on Liam's face was rather priceless.]

I'd be up for learning.

Well, I mean I can definitely be a teacher there.

[Is he flirting? Taking things literally? Who knows, especially not he himself. Still, he punctuates the comment with a grin before reaching out as if to take the reaper's hand.]

C'mon.

I would hope so. Be a shame if you didn't know how to very well.

[There was toss up on if he was teasing about actual riding or something else. A small smirk offered before taking his hand and leading him downstairs.]
