Wait...the milk pan or the other pan? Do they both go in the same thing or am I looking for a different one right now?

[This may very well be the first thing he's ever actually cooked, the learning curve is a little steep.]

No ok the milk should be in the small pot there. That doesn't need to have its burner on yet. The chocolate chips go into the actual pan on low heat.

[He glances back with a raised brow.]

So yea the other one.

Hey, just had to make sure. This is a lot more complicated than just ordering it at the coffee shop.

[And a lot more fun too, if he's honest with himself. But the chips go into the correct pan without much more fuss and he turns to look back expectantly.]

Alright?

Well yea. I did tell you that this was going to be the real stuff. There's a lot of work to do instead of heating up water and throwing some powder in it.

[He laughs softly and comes over with spoon, checking over everything. The reaper reaches past the dullahan to turn on the appropriate burner.]

Need to turn that on for sure.

The things you gotta work for are always the best though.

[There's weight to his words, and he grins shyly as he leans over to brush his lips against his reaper's cheek.]

Step one then. It's on. Now what?

You aren't wrong there. Besides you're learning how to do this. Maybe next time you won't need help. Be the badass hot chocolate maker.

[He turns on the other burner to be on a low heat as he starts to stir around the chocolate. A smirk breaking out onto his face at the gentle kiss.]

That was more than one step but now got to wait for things to get heated.

What if I want the help because the help is awesome and easy on the eyes?

[He grins crookedly at the man, a single brow raised.]

Heated, or 'heated' 'cause you can do one, the other, or both at the same time.

Hm well I'd love to meet this help then. Especially if they're going to be a dullahan's eye candy apparently.

[A soft laugh easing out as he slowly stirs the softening chocolate. His head cocking to the side in mock thought.]

I don't know. Not sure that we can do at the same time. This recipe isn't that time consuming. That doesn't mean I don't like it when other things get 'heated'.

Oh believe me, they're pretty perfect eye candy. I'm a lucky, lucky man.

[He playfully noses at the reaper's cheek, gently kissing him with a quiet laugh.]

Yeah yeah, and it'd be a crime to burn good chocolate right?

You really are. Without a doubt.

[He returns the kiss, deepening it enough to be satisfying while not distracting enough that he doesn't run the chocolate. Then it's unto pouring the gooey goodness into the warming milk and stirring that together.]

Exactly. Be a real shame if I had to say so.

What can I say? I think lady luck is finally being kind.

[The kitchen smells of chocolate now and it's warm and James is there; frankly he couldn't ask for more.]

Good. You've got some talent in the kitchen, after all.

Hrm I don't know about that. You're a pretty lucky dullahan to start with.

[The reaper pulls him in close and presses a soft kiss to his cheek with a grin. He can idly stir while paying attention to Liam. He could use more of these kinds of memories for the holidays anyway.]

I'm not the best. Pretty sure you could outmatch me if you got a hang of it.

The luckiest, for sure.

[It takes a moment or so to maneuver correctly, but he manages to catch James' lips in a long kiss. Holidays had never really been anything special before this, but now there's a swell of fondness that he's sure he wants to keep forever.]

Nah, you're the best. I'll settle with being second best, how about that?

Always will be.

[Humming contently into the kiss, he pulls away but not before knocking his forehead against Liam's. This was all he could ever want. Screw presents and all other nonsense of the holidays. The dullahan and this was enough.]

Hrm I don't know. We could both be best. Don't have to second anything.

I mean, I kinda like that idea.

[His grin is shy now, and there's contentment radiating off of him as he drinks in James' closeness.]

'd be honored to be considered as cool as you.

Sorry but the cool is a mutual thing. Part of the fine print in the whole relationship deal. I'm glad you're happy with it though.

[Finishing the stirring, he moves the pot off the burner before reaching up to wind a hand into Liam's hair and pull him into a kiss. Nothing left to worry over means he can dwell on it and enjoy the affection.]

I suppose I can take that deal.

[He teases back, the words warm against James' lips as he's pulled in close. The kiss is slow, filled with all the love that he can manage, and deep, and he shifts so that he can press himself closer to his reaper, hands winding around the man's waist.

Hot chocolate can wait.]

[He couldn't ask for a better kiss as he helps encourage the deepening of it and letting his own love and care be given to his dullahan. His hand winds into Liam's hair gently as his other arm wraps around his shoulders and brings him in close. Pulling away, a smile slowly grows as he sticks close.]

I love you.

[There's still that surge of tightness in his chest every time he hears those words, and he can't help the bright, shy grin that breaks across his face.]

Love you a lot. Love you so much.

[He leans in to softly kiss the tip of Liam's nose with a smile. The reaper reaches around to make sure that their mugs were at the ready along with marshmallows.]

You're the best thing that's ever happened to me. I hope you know that.

[That's more than he'd ever expected to hear, and for a moment Liam is quiet as he tries to process everything.]

I-

No, you're the best thing that's ever happened. Forever.

[Not the best or the most cognicent reply, but he means it with all his heart.]

[He worries over the silence because he could've said the wrong thing somehow. It was tricky to figure out what worked and didn't work in relationships when he learned the basics from a considerably poor source.

However he grins and presses a kiss to his forehead]

Nice to know I'm that good just for my hot chocolate skills.

Definitely not just your hot chocolate skills. Those are a nice bonus.

[And oh he means that. His eyes slide shut as he all but melts into James' embrace, a soft grin playing across his lips.]

Oh so it's simply a bonus? Hm well I guess there are other skills that you appreciate far more. Such as being a personal heater fit for a rather amazing dullahan.

[He gently cards his fingers through Liam's hair, pressing a kiss to his temple. It's barely noticeable but he rocks them both side to side during the embrace, humming contently to himself.]

I appreciate every part of you, body and mind.

[He falls into the embrace, his hands wandering down to James' hips. Being together like this is such a sweet thing, and he falls into rhythm with the reaper as he lets his eyes slide shut.]
