“I know how your sort function. That’s still some work but not going to be bogged down with paperwork or the like,” he assures, putting his phone down. Liam was the first dullahan he was on speaking and well other terms with but the reaper has had his fair share of run-ins.

He smiles back at him, “A vacation, huh? Are you sure you’re not just trying to whisk me away to a fae realm? I’m sure you have quite the plan for it.”

He carefully sways them back and forth, encouraging with gentle leans and tugs without ruining the moment between the both of them. He laughs softly at the kiss, glancing back. “Glad to know that you’re favoring this night as much as I am. What’s the saying...one for the books, right?”

It was one to remember. Lucifer revealing that feelings were mutual between the two of them and well maybe the added bonus of getting rescued from boring work nonsense. “I’ll make certain to share in kind. You may scoff at it but you deserve good too.”

"For many books," he agrees, the amusement evident in his tone as he grins gently against warmed skin. It's been a night of revelations, all of them good, and one that he's certain won't fade from his memory ever. There's been something so freeing about finally letting his feelings slip, letting his reaper know just how much he really cared for him, and it's produced a certain giddiness that he's content to ride as they move together.

He laughs warmly, low and quiet, as Mattheiu continues on, and oh if his reaper only knew how much his heart had swelled with such a response. Very rarely was he used to hearing such things from anyone, and to hear them from his beloved..."Scoff I might, but whatever you deign to give, I will accept. Always from you, darling. Good or bad, though I must say I appreciate the good a little bit more."

Absolutely no paperwork, he's certain of that, and when James catches him with that brilliant smile of his he can't help but beam back. "I mean, I think you might be stuck if I took you there."

His grin turns devious as he strides over and winds his arms loosely around his reaper's waist, resting his chin on the man's shoulder. "That whole 'don't eat anything' rule, after all. I think we've broken that a couple of times over already."

“Many? I didn’t think you one for series.” It’s a gentle tease while he glances back at the grinning devil. Perhaps theirs would be a thrilling tale or more suitable as a warning if some people had their way with it. That’s what half of such things always go. However that would require letting people write it rather than themselves and where’s the fun in that? “I’m sure they’d make for great bodice-rippers.”

Lucifer is laughing though which even beats the lively music in what he’d rather hear. He hums contently before turning around in the embrace to gently cup Lucifer’s cheek, smiling softly up at him. “I will try my damnedest to make sure that there’s rarely the bad. I swear that to you.”

A gentle laugh falls from his lips while he turns and knocks his forehead against Liam’s, smiling amused. “Oh well that is a certainty. I’m not very good about that rule. Not when you’re so sweet,” he teases.

“I think I’d be fine being captured by a fae so long as it’s you.”

His grin goes toothy, but it's more of a good-natured thing than anything devious. There's a sparkle of mischief and amusement in his eye as he pretends to think about things for a moment or two before Mattheiu is moving and there's a hand against his cheek. Instantly the world around the both of them dissolves, the gentle pressure and warmth of skin against skin the only important thing in the midst of the dance floor.

"With you, darling," he murmurs, "even the bad is good. Because it's with you, and that's where I would prefer to be."

Is it sappy? Of course it is, but he couldn't give a damn. Instead, he's content to bask in his reaper's affections. "I must say, I'm glad that you invited me around. I wouldn't ever pass up an opportunity to show the world that I'm yours."

Despite everything, the joke still brings a slight pink flush to his cheeks even as he grins and reaches up to thread one hand through James' hair to keep the both of them close. "See, now I'm gonna have to capture you. Mark my claim, let everyone else know that you're mine and they can't screw with you because that's my job."

“I think that’s one of the sappiest things you’ve said yet. Especially for one that said he wasn’t sappy,” he teases, grinning after a chuckle. His hand drifts down to rest on Lucifer’s shoulder. “I wouldn’t mind hearing more of that kind.”

He shakes his head. “Even if you couldn’t come, I still would’ve invited you for the rest. You like your showing off and I only want you here. To have a good holiday that you’ve made amazing.”

The music shifts and his attention goes to adjusting before coming back around. “And there I go being just as sappy,” he jokes.

“Uh hunh sure.” He crosses his arms lightly over his chest but not to disturb the dullahan’s hold. A knowing smirk tugging at the corner of his mouth and only worsens with the pink entering Liam’s cheeks. “Wouldn’t it be more so screwed by me rather screwed with me? You have quite the preference.”

He laughs, low and quiet, as they move together, eyes slipping shut as he basks in the soft affection. "What a pair we make, hm?"

If anyone had ever told him that thing would turn out like this he would have laughed at the idea, but the time he's spent with Mattheiu, all he's learned and all they've been through...now he could never think of life without the man. Still sappy, he knows, but he could care less. "What a wonderful pair. Saps, the both of us."

"Well I mean-" He trails off, his grin turning wolfish, despite the heat in his cheeks. James does make a very compelling point, and one that Liam is entirely willing to concede. "To be fair, you do a really, really good job of it if I can say so."

Nailed it.

“Well I’m glad you’re finally admitting that you are as well,” he teases with a soft laugh. The reaper was going to joke as much as he can over that since it’s the first time he’s properly heard Lucifer be open about it rather than teasingly deny it.

His arms move to rest around Lucifer’s shoulders as they lazily sway. There’s not much effort or rather thought put into it when he’s more focused on being affectionate. “One of the most stylish and talked about pairs too I’m sure.”

“It helps that someone is so avid about practicing,” he teases. Reaching up James gently cups Liam’s jaw for a moment before pulling away and heading back to his desk. “But I’m glad that you’ve enjoyed it so far.”

"Only for you, and I'll never let anyone else ever hear me say that," he teases, "that's a benefit only for you."

If it's sappy again, he' doesn't care. They're moving together, the rest of the gala might as well not exist, and that's exactly the way that he'd prefer it to be. Mattheiu's compliment, of course, does draw a cheeky grin from him and he nuzzles into his reaper's temple before gently pressing a kiss there. "We're all the talk of the town, darling, because everyone's jealous that I get to spend time with you."

“Hm pretty sure everyone on this floor heard it. What a scandal. The devil is capable of more emotion than just debauchery and sin. You’re simply done for.”

There’s no doubt now that they could possibly outdo a hallmark movie with how overly sweet they were. However still the cautious one he keeps an eye on any that stray too close but as soon as they pull away under his gaze full attention is back upon the man in his arms. Especially at the gentle kiss that encourages him to tug Lucifer down into a proper kiss, soft and gentle.

“Pretty sure it’s the other way around. I’m not the one with all of the titles and fuss,” he teases.

"Well yeah." His grin is wide and dumb, filled with excitement and affection, and as he watches his reaper move back he rocks back on his heels. "I'll get everything up and ready on my end, okay? Does the Order have specific times when they want you to come along, or are we just kind of....like, are we able to leave whenever?"

Because he might have to plan just a little bit, now that it's certain that his reaper is going to be able to join.

"They'd want a specific date that we would be doing this excursion," James answers with a meager shrug. "So as long as I give them a heads up, there won't be any further fuss. So if there's things you want to knock out beforehand, you have the time."

He hums under his breath, "Got to pack anyway. Make sure I'm covered for however long you need to be out."

"I can do that, I can definitely do that," he agrees, all excitement and barely contained energy now that they're doing this, they're actually doing this. "Uhhh, how about the end of the week, does that sound okay? Is that enough time to get packed? If it's not I get it!"

His mind is racing now, there's a fire in his blood, and oh is he absolutely ready to just leap off and peal out already. There's a lightness in his chest, a grin on his lips, and love in his eyes as he looks back over.

"The end of the weeks work for me," he smirks at the overflow of excitement coming from the dullahan. Liam was practically a full 180 of how he's been for a bit now. It was refreshing to see him so happy. "It's enough time. Do you have any recommendations of what I should bring?"

"Oh! Uh." That's a very good question, and one that he actually has to stop to think about. Generally when he's ridden by himself he doesn't need anything, but now that he's going to have someone along for the ride (heh)...that would make things a bit different. Not difficult, but he'd have to figure out how to adjust.

"Probably like, an overnight bag with a couple of changes, maybe? We'll be riding most of the time but I'll pull over at night when we need to so you can get some sleep!"

He waits patiently for the dullahan to answer, raising a brow slightly. Maybe it wasn’t the best to ask him when he’s never really travelled with any but himself. Honestly though he wanted to keep feeding Liam’s excitement so he doesn’t worry over him not be into such a trip.

“That’d be great actually. I don’t know about you but I’d rather not practice the whole riding while asleep thing.”

He hesitates. “Are we going to ride like how we did last time?”

Oh, that's a very good thing to ask, and it gives Liam a moment of pause. He's never had to worry about anyone but himself before, but he vividly remembers the last time he'd taken James with him and how that had ended up. If there was anything he was certain of in life, it's that he never wanted to cause that sort of panic again.

"We uh," he begins, "no. We won't. I won't do that to you, never again, okay? We'll take it at a better pace, and no invisibility. Okay?"

"But wouldn't they see you then?" If there's anything more terrifying than triggering another attack, it's Liam putting himself into further danger. "I can pack my meds, make sure I take them if things crop up but don't you need that? Otherwise everyone and their mother is going to see you coming."

He scrubs his face before plopping down into the chair again. "I just wish you had an ability to share, you know? But otherwise yea that's good I guess."

"I mean, I can try some things," he's steadfastly against doing anything that's going to hurt James, "we'll make it work out, yeah? We'll figure it out. Make sure to pack your stuff regardless, but I'm not gonna do anything that's gonna be bad for you."

His face scrunches up as he thinks, trying to wrack his brain for something, anything, he could possibly do. "Lemme...lemme talk to Val or something? She knows a bunch of magic, maybe she could teach me something to grab you too. I'm gonna figure it out, I promise."
