Future Stuff ::1:: Been Up All Night
[This was not clicking for some reason. He has been staring at these reports for the past hour and half, nothing having been accomplished besides from papers being shuffled around in a semblance of productivity and knives thrown into the pillar behind him out of sheer frustration. His fingers tapping along the worn metal to keep himself from doing further property damage at this rate.
The bottom line was that stress was gnawing at him.
Not from the job though. If anything, reports should came as second nature after the past few months and coordinating had been relatively easy once the rough first week passed by. Being a vanguard should cause less stress than doing actually fieldwork yet here he was at a breaking point almost.
There was nothing. Absolutely nothing. Those stupid letters and photos and other bullshit weren't coming in anymore.
Something had to have happened and he's stuck here in this goddamn tower like a fresh rezzed moron.
His hands were effectively tied as well. No one could be sent out without the other two's approval and even then it'd be brought forward to discussion by the head vanguard. Which means that nothing could happen for days and he'll be sitting on his ass like he already was. All it did was make him all the more frustrated about having given up his freedom to leave as he so pleased because at least then someone would be out there trying to figure out what happened.
The hunter buries his face in his hands with an exhausted sigh leaving him. He probably looked like hell at this rate. Throwing himself into long hours had made his sleep schedule an abysmal handful of hours in the past few days. Half the time he didn't know how he wasn't passing out during meetings. Be easy to. Pull the hood further down, lean down on the table and maybe get an hour or two of on and off rest. Might be the best time to try it out to be quite honest since the hall was dead before attempting it when there'd be actual repercussions to getting caught.
He grunts after stretching out on the table some, pillowing his head with his arms for something close to comfortable. Shade is called out of transmat to keep a watch on things while an attempt at a nap was made. The ghost whirling softly in concern but does as told.
Things suck. Might as well try to ignore it for the time being.]

He toys with his glass before finishing it off, watching the city around them in slight interest.]
Well this is all I had planned except for the ride home.
no subject
[Because there's no way he could be any happier at the moment. Well, maybe that's not entirely true-]
Head back then? Haven't gotten to spend a lot of time with you, wanna make the best of it.
no subject
[He nods some, making sure the bill and tip would be properly taken care of before handing everything over to the server. That also means that the transport should be notified that they were heading back. Shade took care of that much though.]
Might as well. You're going to spend time with me regardless but sure. That sounds good to me.
no subject
[He makes sure to specifically put glimmer down for the wine, then steals a kiss when the server finally leaves.]
I'll bother the other vanguards and everything.
no subject
[He slides out of his seat and fixes himself before glancing down at him, hands hidden away into his pockets.]
Though I think you'd grow rather bored quickly. Especially when I do reports or have to leave you in the office for a meeting.
no subject
[Time to head out? He surreptitiously pats his pockets before he stands, then reaches out to grab the hunter's hand again, because damn reputation and damn what anyone else thinks, he's missed the other.]
And see, I can think of a lot better things to do at your desk than file reports, yeah?
no subject
[The pocket pat down gains his attention for a brief moment but then there's his hand being taken up once more, lacing his fingers with Liam's happily. He doesn't care what people think of him or his relationship so long as they keep their mouths shut. However he flushes slightly at the last bit.]
Oh really? And what would that be?
no subject
[And he grins wolfishly at that as they make their way out of the restaurant.]
I mean, might say that thinking about things helped keep me from going stir-crazy on Venus.
no subject
[To be honest, the hunter was slightly jealous of the titan and his host. After signing on as a vanguard, he lost his rights to be a fireteam leader and didn't really belong anywhere. Maybe the tower but even then he could be replaced.
However he keeps that to himself and focuses on getting them back to the landing zone. Last thing he needed to do was bring the mood down.]
Well I now know what those ideas might pertain to. Not too sure now if I should let you into my office let alone near my desk.
no subject
[He squeezes James' hand for a moment.]
And I belong to someone a lot more important first and foremost. Host is family, but there's someone else I'd rather spend the rest of my rezzed life with.
[That got a little heavier than he'd intended, though it's entirely the truth. Still, he puts on a smirk to lighten the mood, raising a brow and shrugging his shoulders as if in innocence.]
I mean, would you be so cruel as to ban me from your office, though?
no subject
[It makes him think about what he could consider his family. The fireteam had been a great team but it wasn't exactly what he would call a family though, good friends maybe. His mentor and her team, at least the older half, might be the closest thing to it.
Still he keeps the dilemma to himself and rolls his eyes at the next bit of the conversation. It was something easier to talk about anyway.]
I don't know about ban but maybe have a few rules in place. So you don't try to distract me at every moment and I can get some work done.
no subject
[Keep it light, he can feel the heaviness start to creep in again, and the last thing he wants to.do it cause the hunter any pain.]
Hey though, I have some self control. Only gonna bend you over the desk if you ask, so your work is safe, cross my heart.
no subject
[His small smirk perseveres, gently squeezing his hand up until a new and worse flush hits his cheeks to make him go red.]
I know, I know. I'm just joking. Besides I have enough control to know better than to have you screw me in my office. Just saying.
no subject
I mean, you'd just have to be able to keep yourself quiet. Be up for ruining a few reports, all that.
[His smile falters for a moment, and he squeezes the hunter's hand, looking a little sheepish.]
I uh-
no subject
[Alright something was up. One minute the titan is some semblance of smooth and confident. Now here he was losing that status with an unsure tone and hesitation.]
Yea? You what?
no subject
[Joke, because it's easier to redirect. But he steels himself, shifts a little awkwardly from foot to foot as he fights back nerves. In the end, he rifles in his pocket for a moment, then brings up their entwined hands, carefully disentangling his fingers so he can press something into the hunter's palm.
It's a shabby, old thing, slightly tarnished and seemingly broken in one place, but the copper of the ring shines as if someone has put a lot of time and effort into cleaning it up. The spinmetal detailing, and faded purple paint, have seem better days, but there's an unmistakable hint of void to the thing, noticeable even to a non-warlock.]
Okay....like it's not as cool as what you did, I get it yeah and like, you don't have to take it, I mean you're a hunter I don't even think it would respond to your light? But I uh-
[He looks away, grinning nervously.]
Found it a long while back in the cosmodrome, 's kept me safe for years and uh-
They say it belonged to the guardian forever most beloved by the people. And uh...you're most beloved...to me...and uh...like I know how dumb that sounds-
no subject
[The shaky movement makes the words die off as he attempts to figure out what the titan was doing especially by bringing their hands up like that. Then something is pressed into his and he has to curls his fingers around it to keep a steady hold. A touch of void thrumming from whatever it was.
Oh.
Oh wow. His breath catches in his throat as he surveys the ring. It certainly showed signs of its age but it was well taken care of despite it all.]
No, no it's cool without a doubt. Huh Liam...
[Poor guy was tripping over his words and nerves showing clearly so he reaches up with his free hand to turn him back into a gentle yet drawn out kiss. Finally breaking away, he presses his forehead to his.]
It's nowhere near dumb. I feel honored that you would think of giving me something like this. Yea and I may be a hunter but I know the feel of void especially because of the idiot I love.
So how about putting it on for me? Please?
no subject
Well yeah.
[His voice is thick with emotion, even if he tries to play it off. He slips his hand over the hunter's, gently taking the ring and fumbling for a moment before he's able to slip it on the man's finger.]
Love you, so much.
no subject
Love you too.
no subject
[His own hand strays up to cover the hunter's, and he leans into the touch with a contented noise.]
no subject
[His fingers intertwine with Liam's and gently brings both of their hands down before making sure that the transport was enroute. It shouldn't be too long.]
How about we go home?
no subject
[Really, could things get better? He's certain that they couldn't, because this is certainly the highlight of his risen life. But is that the transport? It is, and he tugs James towards it.]
no subject
So we're alone. How about explaining that desire you had on Venus? With me face first in the sheets.
[Honestly he didn't expect anything out of it. Merely a tease at the titan than an actual request to know things.]
